Week 4 Report: Everyone is 3-1
Week 4 is here, and with it comes as much parity as you'll ever see in fantasy football. We have all 6 playoff teams tied at 3-1, 3 teams at 0-4, and a Brodie sandwich in the middle at 2-2. It's textbook Bourgeoisie and Proletariat for our Bernie fans out there (Nick, Walt and Tim). We just watched the Bears dismantle the Cumhandlers on TNF, which hopefully is a sign of things to come since no one wants to watch Caleb or MHJ be sacrificed to that franchise. The Fields/DJ Moore stack looked like shit on a stick to start the year, but they just combined for 90 points to give Vinny an insta-win in a big matchup against Nick.
Our week 4 Matchup of the Week was Tom vs. Conlan, with Conlan riding CMC to a 15 point dub & making Tomas our Big Dog of the Week for week 5. Our week 5 Matchup of the Week is a barn burning showdown featuring the McHugh brothers (aka the Jitney Boyz), who currently hold the 1 & 2 spots and are projected to have the first round byes in the playoffs. One will fall to 3-2 and lose the bye after this week, but not before what should be a legendary game for the bloodline bragging rights.
The race for MHJ remains alive and well, with Mike dropping back in the MPF standings after a 51 point outing. Analysts can't help but begin to salivate over a certain roster being projected to currently have the 1st, 2nd and 4th pick in a delicious '24 draft class. Still, don't get ahead of your skis just yet because we've got 10 more weeks of football before these slots are locked in for good, and there are plenty of shitty lineups that can compete for the top pick. 🍀BOL🍀 to all Colosseum competitors in week 5.
Killian vs. Nick | Nick wins 109.3 to 79.4
Summary: Sometimes the plums are right, and sometimes they are wrong. This one wasn't close for a moment & Nick enjoyed a free dub.
Conlan vs. Tom | Conlan wins 145.3 to 130.9
Summary: This one was looking like it was going to be Tom's first win at the end of the 1PM games, and then CMC arrived. The dude dropped 50 in essentially 3 quarters and turned a potential L into a comfortable victory. Tom's lineup is coming together, so it's just a matter of getting some wins together to squeak into the playoffs.
Vinny vs. Mike | Vinny wins 121 to 51.5
Summary: If I told you Vinny won by 70 last week, you'd probably think he put up a huge score. He put up a fine 121, but Mike was 2 points away from owning the lowest score of the year crown. Vinny's lineup is aging like a fine wine and has become a force to be reckoned with.
Tim vs. Chris | Chris wins 163.7 to 102.5
Summary: Chris's players had been going off individually throughout the year, but the team hadn't put it all together for a big score thru 3 weeks. That changed in week 4 with a huge output from PPP to the tune of 163 points, thanks to huge scores from Josh Allen, AJB and the Yeti. Chris is certainly a contender for the crown, especially if Breece Lightning can find his stride.
Zach vs. Walt | Zach wins 127.1 to 97.4
Summary: I must've jinxed Walt with all of those flowers I gave him in last week's report. After dominating weeks 1-3, he put up his first stinker against Zach in week 4. Zach didn't squander the opportunity, dropping a 130 piece to secure the dub - even with Pacheco's 25 piece on the bench. If he can keep up the magic, he should be a lock for coach of the year.
