Preseason Report: 3 More Days
40 days and 40 nights ago on July 26th, the Colosseum was born. Since then, we've had 4 waiver moves, 70+ FA additions and 10 trades. Jesus Christ (mahomes). The reports will be coming every Thursday to recap the weekly scores and preview the upcoming week. This first one is a fucking doozy. 3 days left until the 2023 season kicks off. Buckle up.
Tom, Conlan and Walter are the preseason favorites, with Delea as the self-proclaimed favorite for the 1st overall pick (from which he will not reap any rewards). Enjoy the final sleeps before football steals our thoughts and souls for the next 6 months.
REMINDERS
1. Make sure you're paid up before kickoff Waldo ($100). Everyone else's payment total is logged in the finance tab on the Bylaws page.
2. The pick order of every future Rookie Draft will be decided by playoff finish (for picks 10-5) and MAXIMUM POINTS FOR (for picks 4-1). Maximum points for prevents tanked lineups and calculates your entire roster score, including taxi. So the lowest overall scoring team gets the 1st pick.
Killian trades: Jahmyr Gibbs
Mike trades: 2024 First Round Pick, 2025 2nd Round Pick, Calvin Ridley
Summary: Hot damn. The first trade to ever grace this league was a no-doubt-about-it blockbuster. Mike stacks arguably the 2 most valuable RBs in dynasty, and Killian gets a Jag stack with a nice shot at a top pick.
Conlan trades: Mike Williams, Aaron Jones
Tom trades: Terry McLaurin, 2024 3rd Round Pick
Summary: At first, this was a WTF alert trade (patented by Timothy Brandt, Jr.). Conlan's lineup was win-now oriented, and he dealt win-now talent away. Soon after, his master plan to acquire ARSB was unveiled. Strictly for this deal, Tom's win-now lineup got stronger.
Zach trades: Javonte Williams, Quentin Johnston
Killian trades: Dalvin Cook, Rashaad Penny, Skyy Moore, Bryce Young, 2025 1st Round Pick
Summary: Page 30 paragraph 6 of The Art of The Deal: "If you want to acquire Young Stars, you must overpay." This trade is a fine example of that exact lesson.
Tim trades: Amon-Ra St. Brown
Conlan trades: Terry McLaurin, 2024 First Round Pick, 2025 1st Round Pick
Summary: Now known as "The Trade Heard 'Round the World", Tim unloaded superstar WR Amon-Ra St. Brown late on August 18th and the rumor mill says the deal has haunted him since. Tim adamantly denies said rumors. Conlan's Scary Terry chess move seems to have paid off, for now.
Conlan trades: Treylon Burks
Tom trades: Tyler Boyd, 2024 2nd Round Pick, 2024 3rd Round Pick
Summary: Conlan was quoted early in the offseason saying "Fuck them picks" when asked about the loaded '24 draft class. With only Tom's 3rd and his own 4th left, it's currently a risky bet after week 1 of CFB. Tom gets some extra action as a result.
Killian trades: Austin Ekeler, Christian Watson
Tom trades: Breece Hall, 2024 1st Round Pick
Summary: Another blockbuster came not even 5 days after the Trade Heard Round the World. On a warm August morning, Conlan woke up and welched on a pending deal for the superstar RB. Soon after, he was a member of God Loves Jags. Tom keeps the wheeling and dealing going & gets win-now stud Ekeler and unicorn WR Christian Watson. Killian stacks another 1st in 24.

Summary: Tom's trading frenzy continued as he acquired young potential stud Dameon Pierce for the Thunder (of Thunder & Lighting) + a '24 2nd.
Chris trades: Dameon Pierce
Tom trades: A.J. Dillon, 2024 2nd Round Pick
Summary: 6 trades in 12 days for Tom, dealing at an unprecedented rate. Here he acquired Bryce Young for a '24 3rd Round Pick, a trade Tim called "the worst dynasty trade I've ever seen, and I've played since it was done on paper."

Tom trades: Breece Hall, Alec Pierce, 2024 2nd Round Pick
Summary: Less than a week after the prodigal son, Breece Hall, returned to Killian, he was shipped. The temptation of day 1 Najee Harris, WR1 Jahan & a shocking 4th 1st Round Pick in 2024 was too great to resist. Chris adds a superstar talent to the roster in what could be the final blockbuster before kickoff.
